I was born in a little village in the middle of Spain 58 years ago, when I was 6 my family moved to Barcelona, like many other families all around Spain that emigrated from small agricultural villages to big cities like Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Bilbao in the 60s and 70s.
Once in Barcelona I attended a school ruled by a religious order dedicated to education called the “Saint Gabriel Brothers”, like many other religious orders in Spain they take everything they do seriously, so I acquired a solid base of general cultural knowledge. At the age of 16, when in Secondary school, my sister enrolled me in the Official School of Languages to force me to learn English, as in those times the only language that was taught in school was French.
When I finished my secondary studies, I studied English Philology at the University of Barcelona, at the same time I did several jobs, some of them related to tourism, books or culture in general, also I travelled to different countries, such as England, France, Germany in Europe and short trips to Miami in the USA. Finally when I was 24 I became a Civil Servant and worked for the Central Administration. After 22 years of working for the Administration I decided to look for a more challenging job, so I enrolled at University again to study Tourism. When I graduated in Tourism, I did an extra course to become a licensed tour guide in Barcelona and the Catalonia region, learning many new things about this wonderful region but discovering also that I already knew a lot of things that I had learnt because of my natural interest in exploring new places and admiring not only works made by man and but also the different landscapes of this region.
Nowadays I am really enjoying my job as a private tour guide in Barcelona.
